Modern art is extremely parasitic. It’s all about references and appeals to authority. Its all about “I’m not really trying” “this is a satire”.
Like the banana taped to the wall.
It’s literally nothing
They want to make something that’s safe from criticism, and the best way to do it is to “deconstruct” rather than construct.
“I made this painting and if you think it’s bad then I was actually doing it ironically to criticize the status quo but if you think it’s good then I was actually trying to make it ironically good so thank you”
My favorite genre of REAL ART is where they really tried to make it beautiful but failed.
It’s like anti-irony.
